Small Town Adventure for All Ages
This is the kind of trip that’s more about being together than sticking to a strict schedule. Le Mars is the best destination for good food, easy walks, sweet treats, and time spent together!
Day One: Arrival & Easy Exploring
Plan to arrive in Le Mars later in the day and give yourself time to settle in. Once you’re unpacked, head out for a casual dinner at a local favorite. It’s an easy way to ease into town and start the trip without feeling rushed.
After dinner, keep the night going with a stop at Wise I Brewing Company. Grab a drink, pull out a board game, or join in on one of their fun theme nights like bingo, trivia, or even a comedy show. It’s a laid-back way to spend the evening, whether you’re feeling social or just want to hang out and ease into town.
Day Two: Downtown, Ice Cream, & Local Favorites
Start your morning the Le Mars way, with breakfast at a locally owned café serving homemade food and a great lineup of morning drinks. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic breakfast plate, a fresh-baked pastry, or something lighter, there’s multiple locations around town to meet your desires.
After breakfast, head downtown and spend the morning wandering at your own pace. Browse local shops, check our public art, and stop wherever catches your eye. Downtown Le Mars is walkable and welcoming, making it easy to explore without feeling like you need a plan.
By late morning, it’s time for something sweet. Stop for ice cream and learn a little about why Le Mars is known as the Ice Cream Capital of the World at the Wells Visitors Center and Ice Cream Parlor. Grab a cone, snap a photo, and enjoy a treat that locals never get tired of.
For lunch, choose a locally owned restaurant with options for everyone, then spend the afternoon mixing fun with history. Visit the Plymouth County Historical Museum and take in all of the Le Mars and Plymouth County history. If the weather is nice, follow your visit with a stroll around town finding all of our ice cream cone sculptures!
Late in the afternoon, get outside for a bit. Head to a park or trail to stretch your legs, let kids play, or just relax before dinner.
Dinner that night is another chance to try a local spot, followed by a calm evening. Whether that’s dessert, a movie, or a show at The Browns Theater!
Day Three: A Slow Goodbye
On your final morning, enjoy a slow breakfast or brunch. Revisit a favorite place, grab local treats or small gifts to take home, and take one last look around before heading out.
